Agriturismo (Farm Holiday Estate)

A rural property used for agritourism – typically a farmhouse or country estate where hospitality (lodging, dining) is offered to tourists as part of a working farm. Agriturismi are regulated by regional laws and must maintain agricultural activities alongside tourist accommodation. For investors, an agriturismo is a blend of real estate and business: the property is usually classified as farmland with buildings (often catastal category D or A with special use) and must meet certain requirements (e.g. limited number of guest beds, rural setting). They may enjoy tax breaks if they qualify as agricultural enterprises.
