Bilocale (Two-Room Apartment)

An apartment consisting of two habitable rooms plus accessories. In Italian usage, a bilocale generally means a one-bedroom flat: typically it has one living room (which may include an open-plan kitchen) and one bedroom, along with a bathroom. (Kitchens that are separated count as a half-room if very small, or a full room if large enough to be habitable on their own.) Bilocale is literally “two-room”, not counting bathrooms or hallways. It is a very common type of starter or vacation apartment. Its counterparts are monolocale (studio), trilocale (three-room, i.e. two-bedroom apartment), etc.
