An apartment with four main rooms (usually three bedrooms and one living room). In Italy the count quattro locali excludes bathrooms, kitchen (if it’s a small separate kitchen it might not be counted as a “room” in ads, whereas a large kitchen-diner might count), corridors, etc. A typical quadrilocale could be: living room, kitchen (sometimes large enough to be considered a room), and three bedrooms – or living room and three bedrooms with an eat-in kitchen, etc. It’s essentially what English might call a “three-bedroom apartment”. It’s larger than a trilocale (two-bedroom) and smaller than a five-room (which would usually be four bedrooms + living). Quadrilocale units are suitable for larger families and are often sought in suburban areas. Their price will depend on square meters and location; they often come with two bathrooms. In condominium buildings, a quadrilocale will also have a higher millesimi share (because of larger size) which means higher condo fees proportionally.
