Agenzia delle Entrate (Revenue Agency)

The Italian government’s tax authority, responsible for collecting taxes and enforcing financial laws . It oversees real estate taxation (registration, mortgage, cadastral taxes on sales) and from 2012 also manages the Cadastre (incorporating the former Agenzia del Territorio) . Foreign buyers will interact with Agenzia delle Entrate when paying purchase taxes, registering deeds, obtaining a codice fiscale (tax ID), or checking cadastral records.
