Asta immobiliare (Real Estate Auction)

A sale of property through a competitive bidding process, often conducted by a court or notary. Auctions can be giudiziarie (judicial, usually from foreclosures) or volontarie (voluntary/private). The auction is announced with a starting price, and bidders must usually lodge a deposit. During the auction (in person or online), participants submit bids, and the highest bid at closing wins. The winner (aggiudicatario) then pays the balance and receives a decree or notarial deed transferring ownership. Auctions can offer properties at below-market prices, but buyers should do due diligence (inspect the property and review legal status) beforehand, as auctions are usually as-is sales without warranties.
